Once in a while, we like to take a break from wedding photography and explore the world. Since we are both huge "history buffs", we inevitably end up in places that usually take us centuries back, to worlds we can just dream of and imagine. Of course, there is always our trusted lens that helps us preserve all those breath taking views.
We have been blessed to have lived in and visited many countries in Europe. Naturally, we will always keep going back home - to Bulgaria. A centuries old coulntry with rich history and culture, Bulgaria has always been a very dynamic and constantly changing place while preserving its tradition. A University reunion brough us back a few years ago and we spent time in Historic Varosha Quarter in Blagoevgrad - back to the atmosphere of the 1800s and the Bulgarian National Revival.
It is only fair to post this today, March 3rd, the day Bulgaria celebrates its Liberation Day. On March 3rd 1878 the Treaty of San Stefano restored the autonomy to Bulgaria after nearly 5 centuries of Ottoman Rule. We also wish to congratulate the town of Blagoevgrad and Historic Varosha for claiming its rightful spot among the 100 National Historic Sites at the end of last year.
Here is a little glimpse of Historic Varosha with its quaint and glorious beauty.
We hope you enjoyed the beautiful scenery as much as we did during our visit.
"Till next time...
